ABOUT US

All praise is for Allah, who has taught us what we did not know. Through the grace and the help of the Almighty, we are currently in process of successfully completing our sixth school-year of operation. We have recently in September 2009 expanded Afzal Islamic Montessori & Academy and opened up a new campus in Downtown Toronto. Thanks to Afzal Academy we finally have an Islamic Community School in Downtown Toronto catering towards Muslims residing in the core of downtown. Our current facility in Scarborough is equipped with 9 classrooms, a boardroom, and 13 washrooms. There is also small indoor gym and an outdoor fenced play-area for safe playing. We also have a Musalla with a separate area designated for sisters. This area of the school has a separate entrance and is open to the community for daily prayers including Juma, Taraweeh and five times Salaah.

Your child is growing up fast and ready for a little more independence, our Daycare club will be a perfect introduction.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Our approach to learning and teaching is through child centered play and education. We have a fully equipped classes.

TUTORING

Complete education system, which caters to physical, psychological, emotional, character and spiritual development of the child.

How does Montessori Method Different From Traditioanal Methods?

The Montessori method is an approach to education,which emphasizes the potential of the young child which attempts to develop this potential by means of a prepared environment, utilizing specially trained teachers and special teaching materials.The founder of the Montessori method of education was Maria Montessori. In 1896 she qualified as Italy’s first woman doctor. As a result of her pioneering work in the slums of San Lorenzo, she subsequently directed her energies towards education and opened her first school there in 1906. Her educational philosophy quickly became internationally acclaimed and is now known worldwide.
